Marple Newtown (2-4) jumped to a 14-0 lead on Friday night over Harriton, but both sides knew the game was far from over.  Harriton, which has been at the top of the Central League in points per game, battled back, but the Tigers responded each time to earn their second victory of the season, 45-27.

Quarterback Tommy Davis found the end zone three times and back Ross Binder added another two scores.

The Tigers gained possession with just over 60 seconds to go before the half, trapped deep in their own territory.  The offense managed to move the ball quickly and efficiently, setting up a 37-yard field goal by Nick Pezzotti to give the Orange & Black a 31-13 halftime advantage.

The combined point total (72) was the highest single game point total for Marple Newtown in the “Gionta Era” (2003-present).  The offense produced 22 first downs, also a single-game high since 2003.

The Tigers will host Garnet Valley on Friday, October 12 at Harry Harvey Field at 7P.
