The Marple Newtown Tigers (0-4) lost to Haverford (3-1) Friday night by a score of 30-0. Despite being shut out the Tigers had a productive night on both sides of the ball as their offense was able to move the ball at will but just missed on a few scoring drives.
The offense was led by Senior tailback Phil Graziano as he racked up a lot of yards on the ground and was able to break several big runs. Also contributing to the offenses gritty performance were young players likeMario Dioguardi and Kevin Johnson who were able to make large gains both on the ground and through the air.
The Tigers defense was strong most of the game and were able to stop the Fords on several drives throughout last nights game. Steve Reynolds andNick Stephens had two strong defensive performances for the Tigers.
The final score of this game doesn’t justify just how close this game was from beginning to end. If the ball bounced the other way a few times the score would be a completely different one that may have favored the Tigers.
The Tigers now look to next weeks game against Springfield at Harry Harvey Field for a rare Saturday match up at 7 pm. With coverage provided by eyeofthetigersblog.com and www.marplenewtownfootball.com
